Bio
My journal is bilingual (everything not in English or German is only friend's- or private-logged anyway) - I write in whichever language I'm in the mood at the very moment. Don't be upset if you can't read the Russian or German - just ignore it.

Working towards a PhD in environmental engineering in a renown research institute at the moment. I work at their Environmental Energy department for now ....
(My other choices for a profession included science journalism, veterinarian, medical engineering, and archaeology at that time many, many years ago. Which might say something about my interests ..... but I chose the right path for me. :) ... I've also taken a few courses in philosophy, ethics, and other subjects just out of interest.

Got published - well, 4 short stories of mine got published - in a compilation which can be bought on amazon as well. The book is in German, so all English-speakers might experience a slight understanding problem if not familiar with the language.

Have founded two companies. I guess you could say I'm the CEO - but this sounds rather weird in my ears in English, even though it's true. Let's just say that I own and manage them. My decisions, my time, my ideas. Unfortunately it also means in regards to the government: their taxes, their shares, their bookkeeping ideas, their laws.

I conviced my Beloved that we need a library - a room full of books with a reading corner. And a place to stack wine. He seemed fine with both ideas ... :D
Additionally I "demanded" a handicraft corner/room - suitable for sewing, painting, etc. I found the perfect guy as he agreed to that as well. :)
Breeding llamas since 1996. This is considered an unusual hobby by most people ....
And we just got married and bought a house - well, a farm actually with everything included: acres of land, barn, stables, some sheds, some more land, some more sheds, fences ...... Yes, I have my library and my sewing corner, we have 2 cats and working on the rest.

Enjoy being a Globetrotter sometimes - although don't have the time for it right now. But I really, really would like to go on a longer trip again. With longer I mean more than a month ... I used to travel quite a lot and worked in other countries (see below the world map - everything in red are countries I've been to so far).

I have just watched "Saving Grace" again. Sorry, love the film. There is this one scene where Grace gets stoned and looks at her friend Matthew, played by the Glaswegian Craig Ferguson. She then starts laughing, exclaiming: "You are Scottish!" *grin* My - yes, scottish - husband didn't find this quite as amusing as I did, but he laughed anyway.

Because of finally settling down I'm also not flying every few week to Scotland anymore. It will be great to spend this time activly doing something else and travelling again to other countries more. I managed to sqeeze in only a few last year.

I tend to write longer posts or comments sometimes (depending on my time and mood). I find that in order to explain something properly and understandably in a written form it needs a more accurate description in LJ. That does not apply to science, obviously - that falls into a completely different category, far away from LJ. I do read most of my friends journals - don't feel neglected if I don't answer - either I have nothing interesting to say or I haven't had time to get to it (I'm not reading daily.)

about 2007
regarding travel: I have been flying a lot last year and reached the point where I get bored with the safety instructions as soon as I hear 5 words of it and for now on all the planes I go I know somebody. Last time I even got a free coffee from one of the stewards who was pleased to see me again and chat with me. ('Oh hellooo, nice to see you again, how is the wedding coming along? ....')
Have only been in Scotland, Copenhagen (10 days Easter break), and Italy (about 2 weeks: alps, Verona, Milano, Bolzano).
thoughts in 2007 regarding relationship: Why do you find the one who seems to match you in almost every detail and with whom you actually want to spend the rest of your life on the other side of the continent? Not to mention that they don't speak your native tongue (yet), come from a different culture, think that Christmas pudding is nice, ... ;-)

The countries in which I travelled so far:
